Title: Soul Mates
A/N:Written for the Evil Kinney Girls
birthday project for soulmatejunkee.
It begins as a shadowy concept out of nowhere, lingering on the outskirts of my consciousness when I hold him in my arms. Resting there contentedly, it starts to gather might, just waiting for me to grasp it and form it into something I can accept.
Playing Hide and Seek with me for months, it finally emerges outright, stubbornly refusing to stay repressed. I'll make it easy for you, it challenges me. I'll stand still so you can catch me.
I'm not ready, I argue.
It won't hurt a bit, it tries to convince me before going into hiding again.
I wake one morning to feel it fighting its way back up to the surface, inviting me to examine it, begging me to understand it, daring me to believe in it. It half-expects me to come out swinging, but I've pinpointed my elusive mind game and it doesn't seem so daunting.
Eager to be molded into anything I desire, it's very pliable in my hands. I experiment with different shapes. I take the L word and contort it into something unrecognizable, but Justin doesn't care. Making my own unique commitment to him means more than any conventional arrangement ever could.
