Love Brian's flip-flop dilemma bit. So true...which was why, thankgod, deb came into the picture.
Fabulous quad of drabbles my dear!

Hey, mander! Thanks for this sweet comment. Yeah, Deb stepped in and kind of saved the day, didn't she? Thank god she mothered all her boys... they so needed it.

hugs ♥

Craig was such a hateful Dad in this ep. I could have thumped him. I loved the way Brian rescued him with such appropriate words. You wrote this really well esp. Brian's POV.

My fave lines: "you know, the one where I flip-flop between parenting him and fucking his brains out - just your average, daily, run-of-the-mill existence." That made me laugh.
later2nite: dad apologizelater2nite on August 25th, 2012 08:35 am (UTC)
Yeah, Craig - the homophobic asshole father of the year... I'd like to join you in thumping him!

Thank you for this awesome comment. I'm happy that you enjoyed it. ♥

Wow ! I love what you have done with this scene. it's such an important one : the end of Justin's family...
And yes, I love *protective Brian* !
later2nite: dad apologizelater2nite on August 25th, 2012 02:55 pm (UTC)
Thank you so much for the great feedback. This really was the end of Justin's family. I was so proud of Brian for for rescuing Justin from his miserable excuse of a father. Glad you liked it. ♥

I forgot I read this before. Lol. I loved it even more the second time. You have a beautiful way with words. "Parenting & Fucking him." Just wonderful. Lol. Hugs! His father was a prick!!!!

Hi, Annie! Yeah, I'm just posting a lot of my fics and drabbles to the comms I never knew about when I posted them in my journal. But glad you loved it even more the second time - you're so sweet with your praise. Thank you for that.

*Hugs you* ♥

... but I just couldn't bear to witness the death of his dignity.

I always knew there was a lot of shit Brian would put up with in order to keep his well ordered life from turning inside out, but Justin's dignity was not something he was willing to sacrifice.

This little ficlet was a wonderfully insightful glimpse into Brian's thought process during that time! Thanks for sharing!

Hugs, Cindy

Thank you so much for this wonderful comment. I agree that Brian would let a lot of stuff slide, but not this. I love his integrity in this ep.

Hugs ♥

"I flip-flop between parenting him and fucking his brains out - just your average, daily, run-of-the-mill existence. Doesn't everyone live like this?"

I ALWAYS wondered how he called could call Justin "Sonny Boy" and then moments later have his tongue down his throat. Nobody ever commented on that.

And not that this has anything to do with this drabble, I ALWAYS wondered why there was FIVE YEARS OF "CHRISTMAS", and the only one shown was the farce after Vic died. You didn't see store fronts decorated, or Debbie have the restaurant decorated and NOBODY even mentioned Christmas shopping, and all five seasons were held DURING Christmas. It just seemed sooooo wrong. - And, again, the whole Sonny-Boy thing creeped me out!

I loved your take on that scene. I never thought of it as taking away Justin's dignity.

BTW... Is this part of your story that you were interpreting? I so loved that, and lost to it when I was ill.

Hugs ~ Cathy
later2nite: dad apologizelater2nite on August 27th, 2012 10:26 am (UTC)
Hi Cathy, Thanks for reading and commenting on this drabble. It's not part of the Memory Lane I was writing, but is very similar because of the canon treatment. I got Memory Lane to the end of S 3 so far, and do plan to continue with the last 2 seasons as soon as I get a chance.

I have no clue why the show never did any xmas eps. It would have been great if they had, and I thought it was kinda weird, too, that they didn't.

As far as Sonny Boy, I thought Brian only called Gus that. I don't recall him ever using it for Justin, although he did call him Sunshine. But, yeah, you're right, there was no mention of his dual role of parent figure/lover during those few eps in S 1 that Justin lived with him.

*hugs* ♥

Ah, Brian. 'Knight in Shining Armor' 'The Face of God' 'The Stud of Liberty Ave.' ~ The man of many monikers, but to Justin there's just one - MINE.
later2nite: dad apologizelater2nite on September 16th, 2012 09:33 pm (UTC)
OMG! Where have you been, girl? Long time, no see. It's great to hear from you, and thanks for this great comment to this drabble.

What you've written sounds so profound... like the beginning of a very thoughtful fic! And I couldn't agree more. 'Mine'is the only moniker that's important to Justin.

Hugs ♥
